Oldies

I think I'll start this blog off with a little retro/oldie photography.

"Maiden-hair fern"
Karl Blossfeldt (Date Unknown)
Courtesy Of: The Karl Blossfeldt estate.
It looks almost surreal; the plant looks like a fruit of the imagination. With the plain background, it makes the darkness feel like a rustic touch, something almost oriental.

"A Harvest Of Death"
Timothy O'Sullivan (July, 1863)
Courtesty Of: Unknown
An early work, this was in Gettysburg, Pensylvania. It seems as though we constantly try to mimic this powerful way of capturing an image today, when then, it was easy!

"The Bridge At Ipswich"
Alvin Langdon Coburn (C. 1904)
Courtesy Of: The Estate of Alvin Langdon Coburn
This picture is very "moody." It makes you think of the simple, minute essentials of life. It's beautiful the way the reflection captures almost a parallel universe.
